Health Futures conference

The UK’s largest student-run AI for Health conference, which I co-founded and lead as President. The inaugural conference, on 21 and 22 March 2026, brought together more than 200 attendees from around 20 universities, with 18 speakers and 6 workshops.

Problem

There was no space where medical students, engineers, data scientists and experienced healthtech professionals could meet as equals. Industry summits can cost hundreds of pounds a ticket, and lectures are passive. We wanted an affordable, low-stakes, interdisciplinary forum where unexpected people meet and ideas follow.

Intended users

To add: Who was this for? Distinguish intended users from people who have used it.

My contribution

I co-founded the conference with friends and led it as President, heading a founding committee of eight. Running it was much like running a start-up: setting the vision, recruiting the team, dividing responsibilities, securing sponsors and then solving months of problems nobody had warned us about.

Implementation

To add: Add verified stack, architecture and a useful technical detail.

Important tradeoffs

To add: Describe a decision, the alternatives and why you chose this approach.

Verification

To add: What did you test, review or observe? Add evidence and limitations.

Outcomes

Over a single weekend at Emmanuel College, more than 200 attendees from around 20 universities heard from 18 speakers, including Prof Sir Mark Welland, and took part in 6 workshops, a student panel, a careers fair, a poster competition and a jazz evening. Ten sponsors supported the event, including Costello Medical, Anima, Lucida Medical and Biomic Health. Feedback was very positive, and several attendees and partners have been in touch about what comes next.
